OPEN AIR JAIL, KORAMANGALA, DEVANAHALLI TALUK, BANGALORE RURAL DISTRICT

Establishment of an Open Air Jail in an 114-acre of land at Koramangala Village , Devanahalli Taluka, Bangalore Rural District is another reformative measure.

Here prisoners work under minimum security. The prisoners are being trained in modern methods of agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, sheep rearing, soil conservation and in drip irrigation system. Tractor, Power Tiller, Mini Truck, Jeep and Ambulance Van are provided under the scheme of Modernization of Prison Administration.

The authorized accommodation of the Open Air Jail, Koramangala is 80. The present population is 51.

Well-behaved and long-term prisoners are lodged in this Open Farm. They look like farmers on agricultural lands.

New Scheme:

Rehabilitation Centre at Open Air Jail: Government has accorded sanction to construct a Rehabilitation centre in an area of 25 acres at Open Air Jail. Koramangala, Devanahalli Taluk, Bangalore Rural District

Modern Nursery:

Modern Nursery in an area of 10 acres at the Open Air Jail, Koramangala for growing (biotech) tissue cultured bamboo variety for a private grower to enable the inmates to earn better wages and learn the latest techniques of nursery maintenance.

Department has taken an initiative to establish 3 more open air jails at Yadgir , Mandya and Kadur.

acres of land has been allotted to the department in the survey no 30 & 31 for construction Open Air Jail at Kadur.

40 acres and 100 acres of Land has been identified to start open air jails at Mandya and Yadgir respectively.
